This is flawed for many reasons, but today I'd like to make a case I don't see to often:

Since the threads/P92 launch has started and seems to be a privacy nightmare (not a surprise) which is also postponed in Europe due to being a privacy nightmare, will mstdn.social be defederating? I feel this goes very much against Fedi principles and values and I'm unsure if I'd like to stay on an instance that interacts with this.

@npub1psy…pasy Certainly an unpopular decision, but I'll stick around and see how this all goes. While I might disagree (or at least have a very bad feeling about this), I trust that you folks know more than me.
From a user-viewpoint, it would be really nice with full transparency around this going forward: where are the meetings, what was discussed, were you unable to participate due to NDAs etc. I know that would make it easier for me to trust this process, and probably for many others too.

I'd like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Mastodon, is in fact, the Fediverse/Mastodon, or as I've recently taken to calling it, the Fediverse plus Mastodon. Mastodon is not a social network unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning federated system made useful by the ActivityPub protocol, web utilities, and vital social network components comprising a full fediverse.

#[0] I disagree. A better solution would be swapping around on which instance it is that gets shown. One week it could be mastodon.social, another mstdn.social, then masto.world etc.
Get's the benefits of a quick sign up while still working to decentralise the fediverse
