Fasica Gebrekidan worked as a content moderator for Meta via Sama in Nairobi, Kenya for 2 years, until she was laid off for attempting to form a data workers’ union. Her heartbreaking report is on the unimaginable toll of both experiencing #TigrayGenocide AND moderating content related to it. Imagine. She discusses mental health issues and drug abuse.

I have said that the only thing we need to do at CVPR is protest and show how this community is at the forefront of the world's warfare and genocide with impunity.

This Israeli academic has the absolute nerve and audacity to harass someone who did the rare thing of naming how computer vision papers published at CVPR, one of the largest academic conferences related to "AI", are contributing to the genocide of Palestinians. He then cc's racist billionaire Bill Ackman to summon him to unleash his doxxing campaigns like he did so many before. CVPR enables this type of harassment because this is the type of academic community it is.

White women in the nonprofit sector are very networked, because white male billionaires wanna give them their $ to do "good." If they don't give it to their white dude friends, they'll give it to the white women doing "good."
The level of white fragility from white women in this cursed sector talking about "being attacked" & "feeling threatened" while claiming to do "justice" or "community" is nauseating. At least at tech co.s it was understood that "doing good" was just propaganda after profit

When I worked at Google, there was a semblance of "labor laws" that they might be slightly afraid of, in theory.
In the nonprofit sector, we have white women going around naming Black & Arab women as threats to THEIR safety & I find out about it from someone they said this to.

I knew where it was headed by seeing who they invited (and when they tried to invite me as a back fill/window dressing) & the fact that he asked people what their "p(doom)" was *shudder*. USC canceled their commencement ceremony because they rightfully got called out for telling the valedictorian that she won't have her commencement speech, because she said something in defense of Palestinian lives on social media. So instead of apologizing and reinstating her, they decided to just cancel commencement instead. Very logical.

Not even 24 hrs after making history as the first company to mass fire workers for pro-Palestine protests, by summarily firing 28 people, Google announced that the “(ir)responsible AI org,” the one they created in response to firing me, is now reporting up the Israeli office, through an SVP there.
Seems like they want us to know how forcefully and clearly they are backing this genocide.
