That's not quite safe. You should download it to a local file, then execute the file.
There was a proof of concept a few years ago that allowed the server to detect whether the output of curl was piped to bash or not and send a different script to bash than the one you just viewed.
I don't remember how they did it, my guess would be inserting a sleep in the script and checking whether the connection blocks (bash will sleep, less won't), but even sending your payload only to the second connection from the same ip will fool those who follow your instructions.

I'm not sure that's as big a compromise as you seem to think. Google already has a copy.
Unless your family is far outside the norm, if they have your data, it was probably already passed through at least one of the big data harvesters.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the point of boosting AND favoriting the same post on #Mastodon ?
The way I understand it, a boost is "I likr this and want my followers to see it", and a favorite is "I like this, but my followers probably aten't interested". Which makes doing both seem pointless to me, but I often see the same person doing both in my notifications, so what am I missing?

I replaced the #Mastodon app with #Moshidon and to me this brought the whole #federated idea much more to light. With Moshidon I can add the local timeline of other instances to the timeline button (the button that switches between home, local, federated and lists). This let's me see a lot of interesting posts that I wouldn't otherwise see, AND I can interact with them just like any other post.
Without this feature, Mastodon feels like a bunch of isolated servers. Yes you can follow people on other instances, but only if you know of them by other means (or someone else already did the same).
For now I have added fosstodon.org, which has a lot of interesting (to me) posts, but I expect to add a couple more once I find other instances I find interesting (if it's only one, you could argue that I'm on the wrong instance).

If I'm reading it correctly, the keypresses insert a static date / time, the function is dynamic.
So you should ba able to subtract them and show "this document is x days old".
