My rent-pay app's SSL cert is expired, so I thought I'd send them an email from the provided address in the Google Play store... Got an auto response that they don't monitor that inbox... What the fuck? Even the landlord app is a slumlord that doesn't fix shit?

@npub1jvr…8tkt Well, my school had this weird issue with people playing music CDs in the computers. They claimed that the CDDB lookup caused the network to slow down, the truth is that they were running malware that sent uncompressed video of every display to a server so teachers could see what you were doing. A really dumb idea, especially since the computer lab rooms were specifically designed with the computers radially installed around the room with the teachers desk on a platform so they could see every screen anyway. This is how computer surveillance worked when the rooms had Apple IIEs instead of PCs.
Anyway, remember U3 apps? I had a flash drive with U3 and Avast!. Avast would run before anything else would mount, gain admin somehow, and remove the school's malware. I also had evil player, a system tray music player and a few extremely compressed MP3s. Also, a copy of Firefox with the 56k compression utility that was popular at the time.
Wild how I was able to get through the coursework faster than everyone else, yet the "hard drive corruption" keeps disabling the malware. Wonder how that Happens? :neofox_evil_3c_2:

@npub153v…k4np I had an argument with someone about this... No, they would still be biggoted.
There is no theoretical scenario in which they will. No technology that rewrites your DNA, no time machine to swap the chocolate milkshake with a strawberry one that your mom drinks that affects your sex in the end.
I was never able to understand exactly why, and I feel like it's something like what I heard recently about how "It's gay to buy your wife a Valentine's Day gift before the verly last moment possible". If you read that and did a "whut?" I did as well.
It's completely a them issue though, entirely a them issue.

@npub1jvr…8tkt I'm going to be really honest with you, I've tried setting this thing through Google Assistant and manually through the interface a dozen times. I honestly thought you must have a different revision of the clock, or something else.
I decided to try again, because you seemed so sure.
Now it has the little alarm clock icon lit, set completely.
I accept my clown shoes and rambow wig for doubting you.

@npub1jvr…8tkt generally, they don't replace compressors. They make them all slightly different year to year, and intentionally crap for Planned Obsolescence reasons.
As for the filter, you can get an in-line filter that's cheaper and does the same job for 5 years. I'll look one up and put it in a unlisted reply toot.

@npub14uj…4dcp Please, do not work for Schneider. There are much better companies, and the Dollar General account has become a meme in my trucker discord because of how it's foisted on new recrutes and leads to them resenting the entire concept of vehicle transportation.
If you've been to a dollar general, think of how a truck would have to get in there, and I think you'll see the problem.

@npub17rh…mj8d The first time I saw this picture without context, I thought it was a recent picture of a person in a really old building. It took finding the context to understand that this wasn't a museum with some random person for scale, but the actual programmer in contemporary time. She looks quite modern in this photo!
