@nprofile…3w02 That is a CBAM question comming back for the 749372x time. Why have we imposed carbon tax in any form without applying CBAM at exact same minute??? That makes no sense at all couse as you said CO2 doesn't have nationality and moving eg steel plant from Germany to Belarus makes things even worse on all levels from environmental through economic to social/politics and even safety (see russian and chinese armaments and agressive moves).

But tools offering zero click access to newest versions of iOS / Android reportedly cost in $ millions range... So if I ask you where is /e/OS running Fairphone 5 on a scale from "$5 million attack" to "amateur can break into it remotely with zero click for free only investing some time" ... what would be your assumption?

@nprofile…m8mr @nprofile…xpgj No, again I haven't heard of unpatched voulnerabilities in eOS or LineageOS up till now so I couldn't technically "think an attacker would be friendly..." nor make any such assumptions. So to be clear... You say at least /e/OS at Fairphone 5 devices lacks so many security patches, and for such a long time, that a person with basic skills can download a "proof of concept" open source exploit out of GitHub and use it to remotely take over such phone at $0 cost?Is that right?

@nprofile…m8mr @nprofile…xpgj I try to figure it out if by rejecting alt OSes with broad hardware support, and also rejecting old hardware reuse / 10 year cycle / fight with planned obsolence ... if we're not shooting mosquitoes with bazookas. If we're trying to hide from half-a-million dolars targeted attacks only top diplomats/etc need that's what it is. And if that means literally anybody can break into my phone, and according to the table stock Android is just the same ... then 5 billion ppl...🫣

@nprofile…m8mr @nprofile…xpgj Can you precise what you mean by "reasonably secure device" and "dramatically worse" here? Say I'm using Lineage with MicroG or /e/OS on Fairphone 5 ... Am I in such a dramatic situation that my 16 years old neighbour can easily take over my phone with no physical contact after 2 week "youtube hacker course"? Or is it dramatic because I'm voulnerable to a targreted $100k+ attack that would not be possible on Graphene or iOS?Also would it be better on stock Android Samsung?

@nprofile…xpgj @nprofile…m8mr That would be great. Safety of a degoogled os that is entirely based on google - delivered hardware and google "good will" not to block those hardware safety features for 3rd party OS-es (like Samsung does reportedly) -> that is a non starter for me.

@nprofile…rr20 Co stanowi o przewadze PMOS? Można na nim odpalać desktopowe linuxowe apki np? Jak wygląda kwestia dostępności aplikacji w ogóle? Poza tym że nie ma niczego do aparatu... Właśnie przerwałem przygodę z Ubuntu Touch (przez drobiazg - ale upierdliwy - nie działające poprawnie / nieprzewidywalne powiadomienia). Tam radziłem sobie za pomocą apek webowych co było lekko utrudnione przez przeglądarkę opartą o przestarzały Chrome, ale działało tak na 3+ czyli do przeżycia.

@nprofile…lslt We have a nicely working system like this called Blik in Poland. It's made by a consortium of banks and Mastercard. I don't know exactly how it's organised because one of those banks for example is ING but I don't know if "main dutch ING" or polish branch only? However things not-so-great about it would be Mastercard (not exactly european although with some EU capital if I'm not wrong..?) plus it requires either Google proprietary Android or iOS to work so again - "murican" techbros :(

I'll start with Stract and if that won't work for whichever reason also try that other one using Brave engine that is (Brave) still US based but at least not a part of a broligarchy (I guess ??). Anyways I keep my fingers crossed for that Qwant / Ecosia EU search engine that seems to be in the making ...
