Honesty/dishonesty: If they’ve never been off of carbs/sugar for 3+ months, then they just don’t know the feeling, and most Westerners eat to create feelings, not because they are hungry. So, they’re not being dishonest. I mean, people honestly think potato chips are food, not a form of dessert. That’s one thing that being off of carbs/sugar shows you — that you’re usually trying to re-ignite a glucose spike rather than actually being hungry, and most garbage food does that, and rarely nourishes.

It is cold today.
My son and I took the dog for a walk on the trail.
We spent our time throwing chunks of snow on the large frozen puddles and streams, splintering and making holes.
Then I taught him how to walk/run across ice that’s going to break, which would soak his boots.
Finally I turned us around before we got too cold, our hands and jackets wet from picking up and throwing snow boulders.
There is no substitute.

Agreed. First book? Yeah, I could see it. Hebrew Bible/OT for sure. Took till 397AD to canonize the New Testament, but all books were in use prior to that, possibly forming around 300AD.

I make sure I remind my kids that their access to me and their mother all day is more valuable than any of the other status-seeking, compete with your friends, neighbors, & relatives fiat horseshit.
Also, reminding them that they are not locked-up in a government school for 8 hours a day helps too.
I find that the most committed to fiat gamesmanship are those adults getting allowances from mommy/daddy.

Spent vacation teaching Bitcoin to the family. Day 1 was rocky. Day 2 Grandpa started the conversation with “your Bitcoin went up 5% over night”, then Aunt started asking about miners. Day 3 younger programmer cousin affirmed Bitcoin to Grandpa, but cousin hasn’t bought any yet.

One thought on the diverter/gutter closest to the trees: I re-direct one of my rain gutters to my garden, where I dug a cavity. The cavity fills up, plumes underneath the soil as the cavity drains into the earth. Even light rains give the garden a good soaking.

I think Treasury & the Fed are opposed.
I’m in the Tom Luongo camp that he & Wall Street (JP Morgan) are at war with Europe, and opposed on some issues to Europe’s allies, the current Executive Branch.
I don’t buy “QE forever just wait 2 more weeks”, or the Fed’s bad so everything they do is bad. I think its more complex than that.

Visual art can’t do this.

The importance of music to teenagers and 20-somethings is undeniable, since their day-to-day experience can be hormonally-induced chaos, without a fully developed pre-frontal cortex to help regulate.
The complexity of the world post-government school indoctrination increases rapidly and the emotions transmitted via music are both comfort and validation.
But does it really have more significance than movies, TV shows, the news?
Maybe if its organic.
But reviewing the history of the music industry, there’s a great amount of inorganic Frankensteined product.
The Byrds didn’t understand why people didn’t like the Monkees, since the same players played the majority of the instruments on both of their albums.
Guns’n’Roses’ major label put out their 1st record on a fake indie label, Uzi Suicide, to give them more rebellious credibility. Are we to assume that the players organically came together without A&R or management involved, given the meat market that Southern California hard rock was at the time?
I knew a guy that was paid a day rate to noodle over Wilco’s tracks so they could harvest ideas.
