1. Build a baroque house of cards. Prop it up when it wobbles.
2. Build a tank. You can literally hit it with a hammer and it will keep rolling.

It’s no wonder that naming things is so hard. To name something well you have to be able to answer a lot of questions.
What does it do?
What will it be used for?
Who will use it?
What do they need to know about it?
What impression do we want the name to give?
By the time we’ve figured out the answers to all these, the thing is pretty much built.

3. Without carefully boxing in how an AI system is deployed there is always a long tail of special cases that take decades to discover and fix. Paradoxically all those fixes are AI-complete themselves.

1. When an AI system performs a task, human observers immediately estimate its general competence in areas that seem related. Usually that estimate is wildly overinflated.

Every time someone asks for feedback I do a calibration. What level do they want?
L0: praise. “You did great!”
L1: small. “That font could be larger”
L2: medium. “Your story would be stronger if you ran these other simulations.”
L3: large. “Your need for external validation is preventing you from being decisive.”
L4: existential. “Your field is steadily becoming irrelevant. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. We’re decaying into fascism. None of this matters.”
