In the book The Design of Everyday Things, Don Norman talks about what he calls "Good Enough Arithmetics", which is a way of calculating results in your head when precision isn't important. The approximate answer is often good enough.

This map is really too big to post here, but it shows our summer route through Northern BC.
The southeast Alaska route is yet another separate map because it's just too damn much to show in one picture, and I've already shared it :P...

It is crazy to think of just how far glaciers used to extend in Southeast Alaska. There is a reason that the entrance to each glacier arm is bordered by a bar. The bar marks the point of greatest advance of the glaciers during the last ice age.
The glaciers pushed gravel and boulders, then receded, leaving the bar behind.

Friends of ours on the sailboat Moonshine took this photo of us as we sailed out of Port McNeill, in Queen Charlotte Strait. We were on our way to Millbrook Cove, just around Cape Caution, on May 20th.
It is very rare to have photos of Pino from afar, with full sails :)...
