The rise of static analysis tools in clojure land is leading to a dumbing down of the language, to a subset which is amenable to static analysis. This saddens me, I think we lose more than we gain in the process.

My review of day 2 of heart of Clojure: 5 stars 🤩
Nothing went wrong, people juggled, unicycled, ate waffles and vegan cake, watched talks and participated in workshops. We had lightning talks about scrappy blogging, disney playlists, and styling components.
The furniture just got picked up, I'm gonna find a safe place for my car, chill for ten minutes, and come out for the drinks at oude markt. Thanks to everyone who was here or made it possible. 🙏

Little thing that at least someone out there will appreciate: if you copy an svg tag from your browser devtools (at least in Firefox), you can paste it straight into inkscape

A German word that should get borrowed into English immediately is "Funkloch", an area without reception.
For example: when you take the train you pass through a funkloch between Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Spandau.
(It's an English word now so not capitalized!)

The difference between my emacs-lisp projects and Clojure projects is that in Clojure people mostly just report issues and wait for them to get fixed. In emacs land that rarely happens, people just contribute a fix.

I installed a plant recognizer app and started using it on my walks. I'm especially interested in looking up the local Dutch/Flemish names of common plants. It's so satisfying to actually recognize and be able to name these plants I've been seeing my whole life. A lot of the names are familiar, but I wouldn't have been able to tell what plant went with the name.

My electric toothbrush died. It lasted ten years, which on the one hand I guess is pretty good, on the other hand why is it so rare for electronics to last more than 5~10 years? That bar could really stand raising.

@npub1hxy…666k I read what's on the site and am more confused than before. But apparently this is my next OS which is perfect for gaming and for developers... Maybe an about page that actually explains what's particular about this distro would help?
