Went live today on a 12 month project that replaced existing website pages across multiple subdomains and omg somehow it went “smooth as butter” as someone said (never mind that i was quite calm until it actually went live, then i looked at the length of the list of “things to check” and was suddenly nervous! I suppose it didn’t help that by then i needed lunch :))
But, major project for last year done and dusted with only the minorest of tweaks needed on side items. Phew! :)

@npub1trd…ussx @npub1r47…wytr I think its because Matt seems to be coming on too strong - he appeared to be extorting WP engine for money and then turning on other groups. People are feeling they cant safely use the software because Matt may arbitrarily decide they break his personal lines, rather than the actual license of the software and sue them.
(Not my personal line, but the gist I am gathering)

Every time we carefully consider where to park given what time well return to the car. Every time we think about whether that stairwell is safe enough. @npub1trd…ussx we've got a projector, so we actually get very close to the cinema experience at home.
But I noticed while booking when we recently actually went to the movies recently (first time since you know!) that the cinemas are now MUCH smaller, like 40-50 seats and there were a LOT more of these much smaller cinemas (good seats, too, very comfy armchairs!)

One of the lecturers did ask me to stop though - it was distracting him! (I moved to the back of the class)

@npub1jtm…rxtn yes, it’s interesting how the long time argument for letting google and the other search engine scrapers in was that they would send traffic, justifying the cost and, to a certain extent, rights abrogation, has been completely missed by the people working on what is logically the next gen search - they are nothing without the source docs, and yet they take all, give nothing back and yet expect us to allow them… strange!

@npub1trd…ussx What I *would* like to see (and I realise you are in .nz and I am in .au and you have that interesting proportional system already, so its different...)
is an MP elected on the basis of "these 10K (pick a number) people voted for me" not "the most people in this electorate voted for me".
(Lots of details to be worked out. Does it need to be "you can only vote for people within (pick a number) 1000km of you"?)

I actually thought that was what I sent an MP to parliament for, to be on top of the issues and know what their electorate wanted.

@npub1jeq…jglm @npub1wxx…3adn so… are you thinking that if the main instance i use doesn’t federate, i find a lobby server, make a secondary account there, friend grandma and aunt ethel on #threads, and then boost the content from my main account so they can see it? Thus letting us stay in contact (which i do miss now!) but showing them that there is somewhere else to go?

(hot tip, pick a better name than that, I'm just making clear the intent)
and _then_ we tell our friends on fb "you should move here, you'll be able to talk to your friends on FB with _no_ _ads_ or _tracking_".
ANd from there we ween them to "better" instances, as slowly there is no longer anyone on FB ;)

I'm interested in Apple's new Vision headset.... but I wear glasses for the computer (and distance in general, short sighted)
I wonder how that interacts - are they going to have a focus setting, where I spin a dial until it looks right and then I don't need to wear my specs under the headset?? #hoping
