this is nuts its banger after banger from vdj. why are not more ppl using this, especially the "map it yourself" traktor crowd? is it the pitching engine? or its kinda cheap looks and reputation of being the beginner software ppl got bundled with the hercules controllers they started out with?

maybe i should get into 3d printing and make myself one....or are there ones for other usecases that i can appropriate, what kind of jobs use big stepless turnywheels i could buy? video editors? CAD designers? do you guys know

i need a small jogwheel so fucking bad just last night i was searching desperately for a used numark orbit to appropriate for my usecases but at this point they are gone from the face of the earth. i should ahve bought myself one a year or two ago :depression:

here are some things that i would consider "great" library management that have made me either move from traktor to vdj, or use a third party software as supplement, because confusingly, no dj software has *all * of them:
- smart crates that automatically add tracks to themselves based on matching any or all "if" conditions, including the ability to group conditions together
- live updating smart crates that will add tracks to themselves based on conditions linked to the currently playing track, including **but not limited to**, bpm (in a range that *i* can define) and key
- the ability to write information to tracks with keyboard shortcuts
- the ability to write "tags" to tracks and query them while playing
- the ability to add and query custom numerical ratings for user defined traits like "energy" to tracks (to this day, no dj software does this properly out of the box, i need to abuse tagging systems and because of it, can only filter for specific energy levels and not include neighboring ones like i can with bpm and key. i dont understand why, it seems so useful, i certainly would kill for this)
- toggleable filters that filter the current playlist/folder that you are looking at
- a second browser column
- a way to "set aside" songs that you found while searching for the next track and that don't fit rn but you wanna play later on
- a way to "link" to link other tracks to the current one, showing me all of its linked siblings in the browser
- automatically colorhighlighting tracks based on if then conditions

i dont need *a* controller mapping, i need *controller* mapping, i am a POT (person of techno) so i use xone k2s that i map myself, i use them to control the software and either a xone 92(/whatever the venue has) to mix, or internally
it used to be that i wanted good and fast mapping after using the agonizing mapping interface of traktor. but at this point i am willing to use bome or write code to get them to do what i want, which mixxx actually seems to provide. what im looking for now is good track browsing and searching. im actually considering jumping ship to virtual dj for this, the pitching engine seems to sound quite a bit worse than traktor's, which i find myself abusing ALOT for my current gigs. but im willing to work around that to finally get a dj software that will not WASTE my time and needlessly increase my workload while playing by showing me tracks i do not need to see
