@npub189n…satx Thank you! It truly is interesting. The irony is that on that side of the family, it was long forgotten, and I was raised in a classically racist white family. Thankfully my mom, who divorced them when I was very young, taught me right. 💕

@npub189n…satx Well, my family name starts in America in the 1600s by an Angolan African slave. He bought his freedom, married a white woman, and became what later became known as Melungeon, early American mixed raced folks in the Appalachians.
The branches of my family tree got whiter and whiter, made its way to Florida about 6-7 gens ago, and been there ever since (til I left).
