It's really hard to read book length texts I often feel. Even just articles are difficult. But then, while I was on Twitter, I often noticed after reading a thread that oh my, that was really, really long!
Just the very basic thing of splitting a long text into short, logical chunks did wonders to my ability to read what I didn't notice until afterwards was actually long texts.

I love Flatpak and think the work to make it easier to package applications for all Linux distros is really important!
But I very much do not understand whoever thought that before you're able to run any application from command line you'll have to go to Flathub to look up the reverse URL of the developer of that app, and then you'll have to remember that reverse URL to next time, or look it up every time you don't remember was a good idea.

I wish I know how to make Firefox extensions. I'd make one that gave you a keyboard shortcut to add Facebook events to your (local) calendar. It's the best feature of all of Facebook, and so of course it's hidden.

Finally!
Finally I've found a Linux application to see my photos on a map! And it's beautiful, and simple, and under active development.
And it's even supposed to be able to detect faces, but that process is so slow, and can't be paused and restarted later, so I'm not sure how well it works yet.

We need a browser extension that deactivates the checkout button on all webstores for a given number of hours after you add something to the cart – so that you get the time to think about whether you really need this item, and will keep using it.
It should also give you information right there about the closest places to you where you can borrow or rent similar items.
And we need to legally compel all webstores to have this functionality built in.

Don't the people of the US realize that if Trump wins this time, this will most likely be their last ever election?
He's a fascist. He's said he want to be a dictator. He's praised dictators left and right. He has never conceded an election and is clear he never will. He has multiple times said he wants to sit longer than the legal limit. The Supreme Court that he appointed just gave him a free pass to do whatever he wants. They did that for a reason.

There's been so many Windows enshitification moments where people say this is our best opportunity for helping more people get their freedom trough #Linux.
Now we have maybe the best of these moments yet – W11 demanding new PCs, W10 being killed off, and this whole Recall shit.
Yet, after all this, I've never seen any really newbie friendly website explaining why and how to try Linux – with simple text and elegant design.
It seems to me the #Gnome designers would be perfect for making this.

Arbeidet med å bygge fellesverkstedet for sykkel, hvor alle medlemmer kan komme innom når som helst og fikse egen sykkel med proft utstyr, og alle som vil kan komme på enkelte dager og få hjelp med reparasjonen, er igang!

The idea that morality stems from the creator of the universe is baffling. It is "might is right" taken to its extreme, logical, horrible conclusion.
Even if there is a creator, and you can believe whatever you want about that, the idea that whatever it says is good/bad by definition is good/bad just because it says so is absurd!
Morality is hard. There are no easy answers. So naturally we want to avoid the difficulties by deferring to a higher power. But bad is not good no matter who says so.

LibriVox is such an amazing service! One of those rare "this is what the internet was made for"/"humanity at its best" services that there's not that many of.
But the fact that you can not sort the books by popularity kinda baffles my mind.
There's a big range of quality of sound and narration skills when you let anyone at all be an audiobook narrator. Seeing the most popular books could help you find a good one.

I can't believe clicking on a link to a post on another #fediverse instance from within my fediverse instance opens the link in a new tab instead of opening the post in my instance. Ok, så Kron er en app for investering i fond, så jeg skjønner at den prøver å pushe folk til å investere i fond. Og jeg vet også at fond stort sett gir bedre avkastning enn sparekonto. Men jeg må si jeg er litt skeptisk til at Kron påstår at jeg kun bør ha 6000 kr i sparekontoen og plassere alt annet i fond…? Fond er jo ikke garantert, bør man ikke ha litt mer i reserve? O.o

App idea for Linux: An app where I set a regular amount that I want to donate each week/month, and then it locally and privately logs how much time I spend using the different apps on my machine and distributes the money accordingly.
With different options to blacklist some apps, weigh some apps more than others, always give X amount to some apps regardless of use, also give to things that won't be tracked (like the DE), etc.

How hard would it be to make your own digital photo frame, where multiple people can easily share photos that show up in the "frame"?

How come people don't seem to have any issues with selecting an e-mail provider, but selecting a #fediverse provider is really hard?
I feel like one of the answers might be that e-mail providers are companies, which might seem more professional and detached from what you do specifically, while fediverse providers seems more like individuals, often referred to as chieftains/local kings in Norway at least, which seems less stable and feels like they might be more up in your business. Can you add extra meta data to images in the same way you can with music files?
Like, could you make an app that reads the GPS coordinates from the EXIF data, looks up the human readable name of the place of those coordinates, and adds that info to the meta data, so that any application that wants could read this position data and let you search for images taken in for example Oslo, Norway, or even in the Grünerløkka part of Oslo?
