Oh my, how my life changed by just the simple decision to make sure my mornings start with great coffee. Not good coffee, GREAT coffee. In October I got a stovetop (manual) percolator and began the process of perfecting how I make it and grinding which beans. Then by chance I learned of double brew coffee and over the last 2 months I do this almost every day. The coffee is so rich that I now add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and it practically transports me to the living, awake world again. Not being a morning person, this one routine change starts all my days with a smile. And with the necessary fortitude to actually read the news. And do what must be done. And, check in with all my online friends. What a pleasant way to feel centered! #Coffee

A yellow rose surprise in a rose bush severely damaged by the heat waves last summer in Phoenix. About half the leaves growing are still damaged, small and mottled yellow and green. Some are larger but dark green with maroon on the leaf edges. Then Voilá this huge rose near the ground! On a Monday, I needed to do something a little more relaxing than chores and catching up on the news. Another find from my treasure hoard of images captured in Flagstaff last summer. The quest or battles of this decorative iron "drawing" seem to have different interpretations depending on what is going on in your world when you see it. My first thoughts went to Day of the Dead skeletons trying to outrun attacks. But then I wonder if the helmets and surreal images show Nazi villains. Your guess?

An action photo of #TeslaTakedown this morning in Glendale Arizona. What, you don’t see anyone here? Oh, that was because there are about 6 security guards scattered in the parking lot a block over from the Tesla showroom. And 3 Glendale cops with cars guarding this lot. Interesting there’s 50-60 cybertrucks stored over here and about 30 Tesla sedans.
I parked in the next lot over from this lot, since it clearly was public parking behind the AMC. I bet at least 5 cops and 8 security guards watched an old lady walking with a cane go about 2 blocks along all public sidewalks to join the 20 or so folks in front of Tesla but on the street side. Woohoo! By the time I left, maybe 30-35 protesters. And 2 counter-protesters. Heh. #Arizona #Glendale #Tesla

Most Americans are not aware of this, but the Trump folks want to do away with many if not most educational supports for children in public school who have disabilities. My own son now 45 would not have achieved his astounding success without solid school support that started in Iowa when he was born! In Iowa the law said “from birth to 21”. My son had his first therapists and teacher come to our home when he was 9 month old. I’m so afraid of this form of eugenics that is slowly taking over education in the US.

Good to have a quick breakfast sandwich ready to go for Andrew this morning, shortly. We’ve got to get him up and going before we leave for a doctor appt. I’ve been trying to figure out how I can safely protest around here and it’s pretty iffy. Police here kettle and will arrest at the drop of a hat and charge felony. I worry about my son’s care since if I’m detained then there is a hole in needed shifts. No doubt I’d be photographed, car too and every reason to think harassment. I think my 2 sons and I together maybe the best plan.

@nprofile…xzjz I’m worrying about my 15 year old grandson because I’m very aware there is a likelihood a draft will be reinstated as a new war is declared by Trump. My grandson is not studious at all: will graduate HS but college unlikely. His immediate family (via his mother and stepdad is Republican and will not change from that). I haven’t been able to figure out how to talk with him about options because generally I see him rarely and always in company of other family members who would not really welcome any cautions I would have. My best route is to bring things up to his oldest sister who may relay my concerns. Sigh. Enjoy and hold close your grandson.

The flowering bushes are here and coming right along. Early March is showing a lot more flowers blooming now, earlier than usual. Again. Last year we had to turn on AC in the house mid-April. This could be another difficult, long hot wave season coming again. These tiny people flowers measure about 1/2” across and the bush is lush with pointed medium green leaves, Elgin Nursery in Phoenix. Unknown type. I went there Friday on #BuyNothingDay Friday and pay cash for a bag of gypsum. #Phoenix #Arizona #Flowers

Thanks to our local Costco I got a large ham to roast, almost 11 pounds! The price was a “today only” at $25 off per ham. This cost us $7! #Ham #Roast #Food #Meat
Decided to try the recommended method and glaze supplied. I added OJ, water and then crushed pineapple spread over top. It was just perfect! Am planning to try saving the ham bone to cook Lima beans etc. for hours (per a Reddit comment)
as follows:
2 bags of Lima beans, 2 cut up carrots, 1cut up onion, 3 cut up celery, some springs of thyme and bay leaves and simmer for about 4 hours
Sound like that will be good? Will dry beans really soften up enough? And wondering if low pressure in Instant Pot will be better than a simmer in stockpot?

@nprofile…args We use it a lot because I can’t just go to stores without coverage for caregiving. Also the “little things” you may need are an issue. Like our manual/crank can opener is dying. So I’d never drive somewhere to get that one thing because the resources I’d need to access cost more. So I wait for the little things to add up with more and then buy and get delivery. This is the problem I can’t easily resolve so I buy less from Big Vendor.

Enjoying my new coffee mug from @nprofile…u78r !
It’s made with her #BirdPhotography image of a quail hiding in weeds, called “It’s to cold to move”. For me it looks like the haze I am in early mornings, way too early. Highly recommend looking into her profile and items in her marketing for sales. I picked the mug because this home is at the limit to add wall art and I’ve really been enjoying rich percolated coffee. Found out that if your son has eaten the last 4 servings of homemade vanilla ice cream unexpectedly in the middle of the night, the Blue Bell coffee ice cream works very well as a creamer. I just may have to share early morning photos of this mug, frequently. #Coffee

In recognition of #SuperbOWL #SuperOWLSunday today (only recognition of great photography, NOT any interest of some US folderol, I present the only recent owl photos I’ve taken. Both are in a large outdoor cage at the Phoenix zoo. I was about 100’ away so these were lucky shots via Canon Mark IV, 300mm prime lens.
For friends who followed me on the old Mastodon instance, this is shared again here. I just enjoyed seeing all the #Owl photos here today.
For some friends I also share that the expression on the owl face is pretty evocative of my face lately when reading “news”.

Too bad the price of eggs is going higher and higher. Must be a disappointment to some voters that they thought a change in President was going to resolve that problem.

We had a glorious outing at the one, the only Tucson Gem and Mineral show. It’s the world’s largest show of its kind, since 1954. We made it to about 7 venues of the 40 or so.
I have other photos to share. This one is special because she selected pink halite mined in Trona, CA and we talked a while with the owner how he gets this specimen. Makes a difference to meet the miner and hear the stories. This photo I add shows a typical vender in another warehouse location. Giant hugs of amethyst crystals always catches your eyes.

So really glad you commented to ask me that question!
Right now I’ve only got about 150 of those I follow into my Home feed on beige.party. And I’ve manually added about 130 of those who are mutuals “over here”.
