Realized just now: People give picky eaters and people with restrictive diets a hard time for being difficult, but we never get credit for that vast majority of instances when, at a restaurant, we are the first ones ready to order (because the menu is a lot shorter for us)! #vegetarian #vegan #diabetes

@npub17a9…mv9a This is super hard. Your MIL wants to live her life and be in control. Your wife wants to have her nearby to keep her safe. MIL is a competent adult, so fighting with her about it just makes things worse.
At 81, she could be independent for another decade or more. It’s not that old for many people.
Hard decisions will come when they come. Gently suggest lots of phone calls and food delivery if there’s a chance she’s not eating right.

@npub1ahq…wjwd Couldn’t read the whole article, but sounds like the author hasn’t used self checkout in a while. They have worked out the bugs, at least at the stores I go to. And there’s always a helper nearby. Fast, easy, no line.
(Yes, I know the store is reducing staff this way, and pushing customers with long lines in the traditional checkout lanes, but I just want to get out of here with this loaf of bread!)

Was shocked when I learned much later what a real genius Lucille Ball was. She had to play a powerless simpleton when she was the boss in real life.

Since I’m still not going to theaters, I finally saw Guardians of the Galaxy 3 last night - it’s finally streaming. I truly, really love 1 and 2, so was scared to see the last. Also, there were rumors of tragedy. But it was perfect in every way, and I will need to watch it again tonight. #movies #Marvel

@npub1jwz…d2ah I used to transcribe research data, and a researcher described a wound as “pussy.” I was required to transcribe verbatim, so I found the researcher and had her change it to “pus-filled.” 😀
