Currently work for Telenor Norway, Norways largest telco, building monitoring software for various ops teams.

I also volunteer at The Gathering (gathering.org - a huge computer party held annually in an Olympic Arena), where i lead a team of roughly 15 people in designing, building and operating the network.

In my heart, forever a C programmer even if I'm not practicing it much these days. Mostly Go, but the long tail is long.

Ah, norway, never change.

I've gradually come to the conclusion that Ansible is the worst thing that has happened to config management in a long time.
It RESEMBLES configuration management enough that people use it as such because it's easy to get started with it, but it's really just a bunch of shell scripts in a trench coat and quite impossible to "do right".
But now some people can check off "config management" on their list and move on.

If it's not end to end encrypted, your admin can pretty much by definition read your messages. Mail, DMs, personal cloud storage, whatever.
I'd like to add that if said encryption isn't an open peer reviewed standard you can't really call it encrypted at all, that's just obfuscation with a pretty font. And I'd be very suspicious of anyone who WANTS to roll their own encryption, considering how complicated and sensitive that field is.

@npub1y4h…t26u @npub1x2z…qz2z when the black screen told you in orange letters that it was safe to shut the computer off, you literally had a shell, you just had to run the commands to clear the screen. Not saying win95 was just a fancy gui for dos, nor do I remember how functional that shell was given that I was in primary school when I messed around with it, but it was at the very least somewhat functional.
