The last few years of electoral politics have just been the Democrats and Republicans bitterly fighting over a strange artifact known as "The L". For a while Dems were able to hold onto the L but it seems Trump has finally reclaimed it. We're not at the bottom yet though so the Dems still have time.

One thing I will own up to is that I seriously underestimated just how many people really do have hate in their hearts. That sounds like some cliche stuff but that's the problem: There really does just exist this huge population of dudes with the most cliche banal hatreds poisoning their minds.

I think there's this unspoken rule in my head that if I write long form about a topic it needs to be definitive, that I can only cover a topic once. This seems silly on reflection, obviously I can just write about a topic, and then write about it again when I have more to say.

I'd feel more comfortable with this legislation if it came with a pay bump for Congress. It's just not realistic to expect people to take on the arguably the most stressful, politically dangerous, and precarious jobs in the country for peanuts. If we want real talent to rule we have to pay for it.
