Há uma 🔑 pública e privada única que é gerada de forma criptográfica. Depois podes estar ligado a várias relays (servidores). Caso um desapareça, os teus posts não desaparecem (ao contrário do que sucede no mastodon).

Há uma diferença relevante: no activity as contas estão associadas a um servidor. Se o servidor desaparece, as contas também desaparecem. Contudo isso não ocorre no Nostr, dado que é mais descentralizado.
