A trivial update of Arch killed our #Mastodon server for a while. We added some flags now so it won't happen again. This is part of the self-hosting adventures.

My plan to make a side-project of "Comment with #Mastodon" was too ambitious. To do it the way I wanted, so that users don't have to leave the website in order to write comments, is too time-consuming for a small side-project.
Instead I'm building an article-splitter. It will let you split a long article into a thread of posts, and post them all with one click.
I could still practice oauth and build something I need myself.

You can registered an app with a Mastodon instance, right? How can the admin or owner of the instance see a list of all the apps that registered to it? Is there a way to moderate it? Remove, block etc.?

There's no perfect way to do "Comment with Mastodon" for external websites, because #Mastodon is not meant for this.
Mastodon is designed to be a social media, not a universal login. The servers are meant to save posts, not comments.
#ActivityPub is not designed to have one universal ID for the whole #fediverse, but more like an ID for each app you use (Mastodon, Pixelfeld, Lemmy, etc.). The ID and the application layers are not separated.
Would separating them be a good idea?

If you add"'comment with #mastodon" to your blog, I guess it means comments are limited to 500 characters?
Can you get around it by automatically breaking long comments (in the blog) into several comments (in Mastodon)?
