@npub1trd…ussx We are in the age where it will be increasingly difficult to distinguish between artificially generated content and human generated content.
The last encyclopedia series is a useful marker for human and human edited content, which will have a type of usefulness in itself - beyond the higher propensity over a long long time for the content to outlast digital copies.
I do consider the EB's ability to carry today's human knowledge into the far future better than most and valuable as such

@npub1g0t…tvm4 Have you ever examined the abuses of the rail operating companies as a parallel case study regarding siphoning of funds and brittle financial stability of the non UK companies operating since the 1990s privatisation of British Rail.
And again wrt water companies?
Or the UK and its experiments with PFI?
Theres a reason why at uni we studied The Machinery of Freedom, there is an undercurrent among Tories trying to reset the clock where all functions and flows require private control

@npub1g0t…tvm4 This could be a simple situation that the 'opportunity cost' means that it is still more profitable to fleece US citizens first - and that additional surplus can be deployed further down the road once the parlous state of the UKs decisions really kicks in.
Besides, inflation is going nowhere and Sterling is likely to tank relative to the Dollar - how would any profit earned in the UK improve revenues when returned to the parent division?

@npub1trd…ussx The fact of the matter if kept in good order it will remain a strong asset and over time its worth will outstrip many assets
As somebody who traded enough LPs to avoid coding for cash (the secret to my awesome coding skills) the untouched quality of classical LPs is a curiosity (like encyclopedias they had an aspirational vibe that rarely matched usage)
FWIW, I recommend Decca stereo samplers to anybody wanting to catch a forgotten piece of tech culture - amazing fidelity and quality
