My wife insists that I share this piece of information for cat owners as she believes it's not as widely known as it should be. Unlike human nails, cat claws have blood flow in them; the blood flow recedes over time if you trim them carefully and repeatedly over the course of a few days. This is how you avoid bleeding when trimming your cat's claws.

Of course I feel like the photo lacks a subject, but you don’t get a lot of choice after hiking up rocks for two hours with a 3kg camera and a tripod on your back, and a smaller camera swinging from your neck, standing on the only flat surface you can find.

As for fediverse accounts underneath link previews, for now this feature requires manual review from our side so that we can avoid the risk of malicious sites framing users as their authors, but we intend to build out a self-serve system to manage which sites you can be featured from very soon.

We've actually released two features today that I'm really excited about. One is, as you may already know, displaying the author's fediverse account underneath link previews. But the other is showing a profile preview when you hover a user anywhere in the web app, with a quick follow shortcut.

I should probably mention, although it all belongs on the blog, that I’ve approved a 1,000 of these to be produced based on the polls I posted here. It’s a conservative number based on the amount of votes, but better sold out than wasted! It’ll take 20 weeks and we’re going to work with a EU and a US warehouse to keep shipping costs lower for most.

I'm tired of hearing about AI, to be honest. I never cared for it. I don't respect people who use generative AI, and I despise companies that sell out people's data to train it. Yes, people will lose jobs to it, but the world will not be better for it. It's just that consequences are rarely immediately apparent in such complex systems.

You know what I absolutely despise? When you find a legal way to watch a movie, say on a streaming service you're already paying for, but for whatever reason the audio track and subtitles are only in German. If #Apple continues on this path I’m going to have to switch back to Android. The idea that they deserve a fee from developers for people simply running programs on their operating system is unhinged. The App Store fee is justified because it’s a distribution channel. It’s hard not to say “AI” when everybody else does too, but technically calling it AI is buying into the marketing. There is no intelligence there, and it’s not going to become sentient. It’s just statistics, and the danger they pose is primarily through the false sense of skill or fitness for purpose that people ascribe to them.
