@npub1grx…uxfe @npub1aq2…4nfw To be clear, it's also not him specifically losing the money, but Twitter, which now has a *much* lower value than he does. This is also on top of the already massively reduced ad revenue Twitter has had overall.
Musk might walk away from this (though I am not sure he will walk away from the increasing crises happening with Tesla, as his net worth is tied up almost entirely in highly overvalued Tesla stocks). But the only way I see Twitter surviving this is him selling it, and between his ego and his ketamine addiction I don't see that happening.

It's saying he'll lose $75 million between now and the end of the year --- or, in other words, $75 million in a month.

@npub1kpw…xzz4 @npub1ktv…fv3a Personally I think Nikki Haley and Chris Christie could pass for moderates these days (not that I agree with them on much of anything), so I'd say... 23% of the GOP at least is still moderate.
However, I do suspect that much of the moderate GOP has left the party, though I admittedly have no numbers for that. I have two conservative family members who have left the GOP, though.
(For the record, I am very much a liberal/leftist hybrid with one, maybe two conservative asterisks.)

@npub15zu…s7lx I honestly have no idea what will happen here. The current SCOTUS is conservative but if anything it's shown a profound indifference to Trump proper at the very least, at least as far as his cases have been concerned.
It's also possible this will work its way through the lower courts, giving the justices cover to let a lower ruling stand.

@npub15zu…s7lx Over on BlueSky, one academic is claiming that he had been incorrectly cited for a non-existent paper in his name, and blamed it on AI.
I looked into it, and within a few minutes discovered that Google Scholar had a citation for the entire journal volume and all the authors in it, rather than individual articles of the journal. He wrote an article in the journal, but the preface of the journal (written by someone else) was being cited. So it's very likely not an error of AI paper generators, but an issue with Google Scholar and/or an editorial oversight in the citation.
But of course everyone commenting there now seems to think the entire paper that had the bad citation was AI generated and that "we are fucked" because the paper with the bad citation was in a reputable journal, so now journals are accepting AI hallucinations.
God, people are so stupidly quick to jump to conclusions.

@npub15zu…s7lx My (limited, non-expert) understanding is that the climate crisis is likely to amplify this particular trend, as many of the countries with aging populations are in temperate latitudes and many of the countries that are going to have large working populations are in tropical ones.
This doesn’t mean that things are going to be rosy for anyone under climate change, but things will likely suck less in temperate latitudes, driving migration towards those areas. (It’s part of the reason I’m staying in my particular area within the US as well.)

There are many rules, including prohibitions on photography, games, and experiencing most forms of outwardly detectable joy.
I’m curious why anyone would go to such a depressingly rigid place when Central Park exists. As a person who lives in an area in upstate New York (one with far more trees than people per square mile and thus being far more ideal in my eyes than NYC) can someone explain this to me?

So #Musk open-sourced the #Twitter recommendation algorithm today, and as I 100% expected, it's got a ton of machine learning that won't be transparent to anyone as to how it works.
