Mastodon is (as far as, I'm aware) free from conspiracy nut jobs, science deniers, flat earthers, moon landing deniers, antivaxxers, trolls, racists and their cult ilk. It just has nice, sensible, harmless people.
The other place, however, is full of the above sewer dwellers and Elton may want his sinking platform to be subscription only. Why would I want to pay to be subject to constant garbage and abuse?

Other oddities are:
A small piece of wood in a scone
A small pebble in muesli
What looked like a seashell in some other cerial (sent it to the manufacturers, they found it was a build up of some coating used to spray some ingredients and had broken off. You could see the strata in its make up)

If someone quotes a science principle at you that quite plainly indicates they have absolutely no idea about the subject, just say
"It's the submeson parallax differential meshing with the hyperlinked gaussian matrix being modulated by the antidichroic membrane field"
They won't have a clue and makes you sound clever.
