It's amazing how much faster I write in Emacs than other text editors. Flyspell mode, in particular, makes on-the-fly corrections so easy that my writing simply flows.

Typing directly on the iPad's on-screen keyboard works a lot better than it should. Autocorrect is obviously a big part of this, but I bet getting the size of the "keys" just right took a lot of work.

@npub1j46…3gm7 that's fascinating. You're right: modern keyboards aren't designed to support these key chords. I wonder if there are specialized keyboards in the market that better support pre-GUI apps like Emacs. Perhaps from a niche mechanical keyboard manufacturer?

@npub1j46…3gm7 yeah, I assumed that's where you were going. Emacs's UI is both a pro and a con — once you internalize the keyboard shortcuts, the tool becomes a seamless extension of your mind. But it has a steep learning curve!

YouTube is a jewel of the web. I've learned many thing there and gladly pay for a premium account. That said, the recommendations algorithm could be better. Just because I watched a few videos about Werner Herzog doesn't mean I want 33% of my feed to become The Herzog Channel.

@npub1j46…3gm7 the double tap trick works on iOS as well. I discovered the tap-and-hold gesture today by accident... after years of using this app. Gestures aren't easily discoverable. 🤷🏻‍♂️
