I was getting a circuit turned up in San Francisco in 1999 or 2000, chatting with the technician. He told me the lineman/tech next to him was working on the big tap that was in the news. I wish I could recall who ratted them out.

Personally, I don't see it as being much different from the move to Microsoft Word by the general public for typographic and graphic design tasks. Yes, it put a lot of people out of jobs, but it didn't change the landscape of layout and publishing except to democratize work. This will put a lot of artists out of work. Creation of high concept work will be faster and easier as it was when Quark, Corel, and Photoshop came on the scene.

"Tolerance" fits what was needed to keep English governance afloat when religious strife caused chaos. You're bearing the burden of putting up with heretics and apostates whom you tolerate. Also "shut up and follow the law" for those being tolerated. Nobody had to like it. So there's that negativity.
It may have been an early signal of the emergence of accepting religious practice among fellow citizens. (?)
It was limited to a handful of Protestant sects.

I did an estate appraisal in the early 80s on a doctor's office that had separate sections for Black and White patients.
