From a content creators perspective the lack of engagement, is definitely an issue with Nostr in it's current state, especially if your goal is to monetize your content, imo. If you spend multiple hours crafting and coming up with unique notes, yet you don't receive any feedback at all whether it's a comment, like or a #zap it can be discouraging and ultimately over time those content creators will leave #nostr and go to greener pastures as the cost benefit analysis isn't worth it here as they don't have an audience. Why write something on social media if it's not going to be read by anyone, right? This has a cascading effect when new users join as when they find a community other than #Bitcoin and it's rarely ever posted they to leave as well as their is no one to engage with.
Imo, discoverability, on-boarding and ease of use have been long standing pain points on #nostr as trying to find other communities other than #Bitcoin can be challenging especially if you don't know what hashtags to use.
So until these pain points are solved the status quo will continue.

With the debut of the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD a few weeks ago I have seen the Mustang community make the comparison that the GTD is the modern day spiritual successor of the beloved 2000 Cobra R. I don't necessarily agree with the Mustang community consensus on this.

To me the Dark Horse model is a closer spiritual successor as the target markets are different between the 2 models. If you were around during the Cobra R's debut, it was marketed as a "road-legal race car" which while the GTD is marketed as such, so is the Dark Horse. The difference lies in the price point. With the Cobra R, it would have been possible to purchase one on a normal working class income if you saved up, which today with the Dark Horse it would tick that box compared to the GTD which costs supercar money.
To me, the GTD was released to capitalize on the "car as an investment" trend and wasn't made for the enthusiast which the Cobra R was. Once the order banks open, the GTD will be bought up by speculators and will never see the light of day.
In my opinion, the GTD is what the 2nd gen Ford GT should have been, but wasn't. #cars #carstr #carchain #opinion

People have to learn the hard way, the lesson that if you use someone else's platform you're at their mercy and you can be cancelled at any time. All you're hard work generating content goes up in smoke and any income coming in goes instantly to $0 if you haven't taken steps to decentralize your presence. Some recover, some don't after being cancelled.
People only wake up when it's too late, instead of future-proofing their content on a robust platform you can control #nostr or otherwise.

In my opinion, one of the appeals as to why enthusiast consumers are buying more older vs new cars is because back then the automotive industry dared to be different they took chances to gain market share. Whereas today, everyone follows everyone, to "play it safe".
That is why when people say older cars have more "soul", they're right, because they do. Those vehicles we all remember fondly were produced by people from a different cloth than those that inhabit the offices of automakers today. Those vehicles were made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.

The look is raw as the pictures used are without any sort racing liveries. The gray colored race car is what you get from Callaway Competition from their factory when you purchase new. The last picture shows it with a racing livery installed.

I have made similar explanation to people. I often reference the Dead Internet Theory a lot in my explanations to give them a reason to inquire more about how the rest of cyberspace works and why #nostr is different.
Like you I mention ad-supported algorithms that create conflict and most of the internet traffic aside from here being bots. Anonymity is very important, especially now when the world is going in the opposite direction of having to be "verified" and your identity defines if your classified as an "expert" or not.
Sometimes anonymity is needed to articulate information that you otherwise wouldn't want tied to your actual identity. Not for fear of not standing up for what you believe in, but rather formulating ideas in a non-biased manner without attaching a label to yourself and society putting you in a box because of prior statements made, completely discarding your opinion and ideas based on past statements. As humans we all do this and judge others track records based on if prior information is available. With the internet we have solved/hacked this issue regarding public discourse and can now formulate ideas based on merit and logic without any sort of preconceptions of the person and the best ideas win out without any sort of bias
Secondly, their is a sliding scale of oppression around the world between soft and hard oppression and the punishment varies, but can both equally be bad from a reputational and personal security standpoint.
Being anon allows you to freely formulate ideas in the public space of the internet without the fear of reprisal. You are entitled to get things wrong and for others to poke holes in your ideas if they are flawed, to help further getting to the truth. Some of the greatest ideas, thoughts and intellectual discourse have been created by anonymous or pseudo-anonymous people, Satoshi created Bitcoin for instance, various nameless Twitter, Nostr, BBS forum posters have articulated some really interesting ideas.
Many ideas from the internet underground were formulated by anonymous people that eventually found their way up to the mainstream consciousness.
So it's very important to have anonymity continue in our world so to advance and try to find the best solutions to problems and to uncover the truth.
