#WordWeavers Sep 5 - If you could collaborate with another author, who would it be?
On the history side, Professor Michael Wood, who wrote the book In Search of the Dark Ages, which was a huge inspiration to me - So if he's up for applying his extensive knowledge of history to an anarchic comedy fiction - then I'm interested.
On the comedy side, I would have to say Bob Mortimer, but if that collaboration ever happened I know I would just spend more time laughing than writing. 😀

#WritersCoffeeClub Aug 9 - In your work, do you include short sections in languages other than the primary language?
I will use words from other languages sparingly, but sometime it's a case of picking the best word for the text, and that's not always English.
I've used Scottish Gaelic, Irish, Japanese, Spanish, and Quechua amongst others. Not all in the same book. 🙂

#WritersCoffeeClub May 18 - Have you written sections where the action occurs against the clock? How did you do it?
Not so far, but the thought of my characters trying to achieve something as the shadow on a sundial slowly turns, could be quite funny. You might get that in a future book. 😀

#WritingWonders Day 6/16 - What was your process of creating this setting and make it realistic?
Most of my locations exist within a few hours drive of home, so I know them well.
I'll study information about the layout and construction of settlements, place names and aspects of everyday life as they were in the 5th century,
I'll research native plant species and wildlife, in order for them to earn a place in my descriptions.
I also owe a debt of gratitude to those who explore the wilds with a camera every weekend and upload their journeys on to YouTube.
I realise now that I use research rather than plotting to provide the framework for my writing. Many of the ideas for TBOTB 2 have developed in this way.
