#ScribesAndMakers 18th May: What part of your creativity gives you the most trouble?
Deciding what to do next. It is both positive and negative that I have lots of options for what I can do, but that can also mean I have far too many WIPs. Then again, can one really have too many WIPs? Well, not-finishing them sucks, I suppose. I like finishing things.
It is GOOD that I am not running out of ideas. But ideas are the least of it; there is so much work after the idea.

@nprofile…009v Ceramics in high school for me too - senior art, one semester was pottery. I still have some of the pieces from that. One of the nice things about classes (whether high school or adult) is that generally someone else is looking after the firing, which makes one less thing to worry about.

2. Adding a teaspoon of molasses to your hot drink tricks your brain into thinking it is a bit chocolatey (probably because your brain is thinking "somewhat sweet, strong taste not caramel, is it chocolate?"

@nprofile…3r43 I think we have this unconscious idea that people we read about in history had it easier because what they needed to do was obvious -- but it is only obvious to us because we are looking back at it, knowing that it succeeded. From their perspective, it was all new and scary, and the way forward wasn't obvious at all.

Trump and Musk are in a race against time. What they are doing is illegal, and they know it. What they hope to do is dismantle the US government before the wheels of justice (which turn slowly) can run them over. ANYTHING that USians can do to slow them down is a good thing.

I have MADE A SHEEP!!
It is basically a ball of shaggy scarf yarn with a face. But I did it from scratch, from my own non-design (i.e. draw-string cast on, keep knitting with the scarf yarn until I can't stand it, do the face, stuff it, the end.)
I am Quite Pleased.
It is for my grand-niece.

Current frustration: my long (30cm) wooden 4.5mm needles are too grippy, and my short (25cm) aluminium 4.5mm needles are too short for my current WIP.
I know many people love wood and bamboo needles, but I have very tight tension on my knit stitches (even though I have improved) and I find grippy needles very frustrating.
I'm sure I would love my nice wooden needles if I was working with slippery yarn, but current yarn is not slippery.

New Year's Resolution: to use up all the Chenille yarn in my stash and never buy another scrap of it. I am beginning to think there are only two ways of successfully working with (super-)bulky chenille:
1. A simple garter-stitch rectangle.
2. Half-double crochet putting the hook between the stitches rather than under the loops.
Have any of you found other ways of working with chenille that still enable you to retain your sanity?

Third in my trilogy of knitted citrus fruit - a (radioactive) grapefruit!
Yarn: Light Orange Glow yarn, polyester, Medium weight. The yarn glows in the dark when charged with UV light, but it fades quickly.
Knitted in the round on 4.5mm double-pointed-needles.

Stuffing: stuffed with a balloon which is stuffed with brown rice.
The decreases were very fiddly, trying to knit around the balloon. I don't think I'm going to do this again, at least, not with a rice-stuffed balloon.

Made a huge pot of soup, with cabbage mix, fresh celery, green capsicum, mushrooms, lettuce, tinned tomatoes, cus cus, mushroom stock and chicken stock, then tossed in some chicken bits after I'd pureed everything. Go me!
The flavour is sort of minestrome-ish. It's amazing how dominant the tomatoes are in the flavour profile.
