veikkaan että AI ei vielä kamalasti näy datakeskusten sähkönkäytössä siksi että AI on kuitenkin ihan uusi juttu vielä ja tyypillisessä olemassaolevassa datakeskuksessa ei yleensä ole paljon kasvun varaa energian (sähkö+viilennys) suhteen. Eli kasvu tullee uusien datakeskusten ja niiden laajennusten kautta jotka ottaa aikansa.

Netflix can now serve 100Gbit/s of video (so something like 12,500 individual 4K streams) with an appliance using 100 watts of power. That’s 8 milliwatts for each 4K stream.
Remember that number the next time someone tells you that watching a Netflix show is as bad as driving an SUV or some shit.

oli itsellä tarkoitus tulla sillä työreissulta takaisin viime kuussa mutta Lyypekissä iski ahdistus ajatuksesta ja suuntasinkin sitten Köpikseen.
Voisin kuvitella että porukassa toi 1,5 vrk kelluntaa menee leppoisammin kuin yksin.

So Google is investing an additional €1 billion into their $3.5B Hamina, Finland data center. The facility will use so much electricity that after the investment, the whole city of Hamina can be heated by the waste heat alone.
It’s not a surprise that the government is hailing this as a huge win and “primarily a significant climate action”. Consuming all those megawatts is significant alright, but maybe not in the way the government talking points imply…

I went from a 45mm to the Ultra and it’s definitely more sports-watch-y. Just based on size alone I would choose the 45mm.
But the Ultra was actually cheaper than the steel 45mm I looked at, so overall I’m happy with the purchase.
