it's a small community, more comparable to a moderately successful Discord than a heavyweight social media site. But my impression has always been that Cohost users aren't too interested in heavyweight social media, and unlike the free labor Discord requires, Mltshp is a non-profit where volunteering is a reasonable ask.
@npub1prs…eh8y can probably do a better job explaining it than I can. I'll also bring up the FAQ with the team since you're not the only person who has found it lacking.

Fair, that FAQ is a bit out of date. The key to their sustainability is that they're owned by a non-profit. The code was reliably built a decade ago and requires little maintenance, so any labor that needs to be done can be taken care of on a volunteer basis. The FAQ says $2 a month covers server costs and that remains true, It would take a huge number of heavy users causing issues and paying the minimum subscription to seriously upset the balance.

#HeyCohost if you want a social media site that's weird and inclusive and non-exploitative and sustainable you should really give http://www.mltshp.com a try. I've been there since long before Cohost was a thing and Cohost is the only other place I've felt to have a similar vibe.

I have devised a clever new test in the model of Voight-Kampff. It is one question long: "Is perpetual growth viable?"
