Being left wing is high status now, which is why most art is left-wing.
That's all there is to it. When being Christian was high status, Christians made all of the greatest pieces of art the world had ever seen and has seen since.
Now that leftists are in control of art, what have they produced? Garbage no one earnestly likes (ugly architecture, modern art in modern art galleries) whose sole purpose is for people to pretend to like it to seem sophisticated, and consumer slop. No, they do not. The difference is they have institutional support. The reality is boycotts do not matter. Actual consequences are *always* top down. Same with protests. Protests have zero effect if they are not approved from the top, and are quickly dispatched and the people in them arrested if necessary.
Meanwhile if a protest is approved, you will be the one arrested for defending yourself from their violence, and they will get away with anything. It's top-down violence disguised as grassroots. Just like boycotts are never grassroots movements when they succeed.

A certification or a college degree is a kind of recommendation, if you think about it. The company wants someone to vouch for you.
The high value placed on the latter is mostly due to how much status we place on the institutions granting them.
I think it's interesting to think of college not as a place where you learn useful things, but as a place that bestows you the status of college-degree-haver, effectively putting you in a higher social class.
This is how people tend to think of college even if they don't say it explicitly
