@npub1wfj…2ewz I’ve definitely customized the User model in the past just as a best guess for how to do it, without ever actually needing to.
And then touching it for non-critical stuff always felt slightly icky!

I’m not trying to start a religious war, but what’s the community consensus these days on overriding Django’s built-in User model vs OneToOneField to it from a separate Profile model?
I’ve generally preferred the latter, but that’s just a personally cargo culted long-term habit at this point.

Just finished the @npub1e6x…zd8d episode 553 with @npub10vl…dhj2 and am somehow excited about #Debian #Linux.
I haven’t run a meaningful Linux install in many years, and Debian specifically since 2006 at the latest, but it might be time to spin up the most recent release on a spare machine to see what’s up.
