@npub1upk…tcwy dig has a new-ish feature that will start helping slowly in many places where it is getting enabled/deployed: RFC8914 -- Extended DNS Errors (EDE): https://blog.nlnetlabs.nl/extended-dns-error-support-for-unbound/ and for instance https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/troubleshooting/domains tell a bit more about it.
The other trick is to use diag tools: https://dnsviz.net/ and https://zonemaster.labs.nic.cz/ to analyze a domain; the moment you have client issues is when it gets a bit funnier, but... use dig; while it is a bit verbose, it has the correct details ;)
