I think Google's prolonged war on adblockers will result in many sub-battles like this one just like any other big tech war on anything.
If you do want to make the video, I hope you also address Google's plans on blocking Ublock on Chrome next year cause that seems related to this Firefox issue

Google "allegedly" or "provenly" discriminating on Firefox is a pretty well documented matter
Whether Google intentionally or accidentally does it or doesn't do it at all (imaginary), the truth of the matter remains it is anti-competitive at best or in this scenario with the "blocking adblockers" downright breaking EU laws at worst
We need good YouTube competitors. That's all

@npub1xzm…eykm @npub1p67…xh53 Maybe no one at mastodon is interested but there should be real attempt at attracting accounts from other platforms, not just for mastodon but for the fediverse as a whole.
Until that is done, mastodon will be in constant brink or losing steam and eventually relevance

@npub17td…apfk problem with Firefox is still the support. Only 10 are supported and most of them are European languages.
Translations, as an English or
a French user, are more useful for languages completely unreleated to your native one as you are translating from what's complete gibberish to you.
Translating from German to English is not as useful as Chinese to English when you think about the concept of shared vocabulary and characters.
How is Brave so far ahead when it launched AFTER Mozilla?

@npub188q…3jlx I have always said, methods of "fixing" YouTube, (extensions, addons), and frontends (invidious, vanced) are a temporary workaround. Not a permanent solution. Twitch took back their horrible policy. Reddit and YouTube (with dislikes) aren't. This shows clearly that existence of a strong competitor allows no one bully! We should push towards Odysee, Peertube, etc. as much as we can

@npub1094…2wum @npub14vr…0e7d that's a great point! I get it. When I mentioned telegram, I meant the saved messages and channels feature where you can virtually treat it as your free limitless cloud storage. Peertube can be a public version of that

@npub1094…2wum @npub14vr…0e7d yes but as I said... video is much harder to support. Server costs are too high. And its just gonna grow, not shrink. If it doesn't earn anything, I don't see how long they will be able to support it. But hey, I am not a pessimist. If it does manage to be something like telegram or something, where you just upload whatever you want, I'll be more than happy...

@npub1094…2wum I don't know if peertube is gonna stay for long with how its going growth wise. Video is much different and harder than 500 word text posts. Unless the dev is just trying to be a side place to upload media...

@npub188q…3jlx adblockers and frontends like invidious and vanced are only a temporary solution that focus on "fixing" YouTube.
Google can anytime counteract them whenever it wants. The real solution is to switch to actually different alternatives like Odysee, Peertube, Nebula and others.
Having 1 platform for ALL videos of the internet was never a good idea. It should be decentralised and content specific.
