did a bit of mini distroism today at a little event, lots of liberals, leftists and normies around, and *by far* the most popular selection taken was the zine i formatted for @nprofile…9wf4 , "what is fascism? what is anti-fascism?" in plain language.
which leads me to believe that we need waaay more simple language zines! drop the academic jargon and style, keep the ideas and key vocab and explain them in straightforward and simply. make these liberatory concepts and vocabularies accessible!

Raven is a trans and Indigenous comrade, friend, student, and activist who at 19 was arrested for their participation in the George Floyd Uprisings during the summer of 2020. Three years on, as they face ongoing state repression they are required to pay many tens of thousands of dollars. Through community fundraising, they were able to pay a large chunk, but still more remains. Eugene Jail Support has generously offered to match your donations until 1/15 up to $5,000.00. Raven was pressured to snitch on multiple occasions and steadfastly refused, even with the possibility of years in prison. In federal court, they faced a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, even though they had no criminal history. After over two years of negotiations, Raven's lawyers secured a favorable non-cooperating plea deal that dismissed Raven's federal charges while avoiding jail time.
The action isn't over until everyone is home free, and while Raven does not have to serve jail time, this high price is an enormous burden for anyone - let alone a young student. Standing with comrades near and far to the end of their struggle is an act of solidarity that proves our strength!

i know it's no longer so easy to get it, access can be tricky and scheduling can be a hassle, but please get your covid vaccination as soon as possible if you haven't already! understand that because of how shit the response was in the first three years, that we're essentially now living with it for the indefinite future. it's not a booster, it's a new vaccine that we will have to take yearly, just like the flu vaccine. along with masking, testing, and other precautions, it should be part of a health repertoire that becomes habit.

the tax kicker in oregon is $5.6b this year, there are ~18k homeless people in oregon, if the state were to give each of these people $1k/month for a year, it would cost ~$220m over the year, or 4% of the kicker.
