I'm a university library sysadmin by day. Longtime Linux user and fan (:arch: on desktop, :debian: on servers) trying to selfhost as many services as possible (mainly on :raspberrypi: but a fan of SBCs in general).

Other hobbies include photography (enthusiastic amateur, mainly landscapes), tea drinking and physics/astronomy.

Confused me for a minute when trying to paste in my long generated password!

@npub1a3h…m44m CF cards seem clunky and ancient these days. Still got one somewhere at home.
I keep hoping to spot some bargains on DSLR lenses with everyone upgrading to the new Z mount ones. Then again I've already got more lenses than I can use!

@npub1a3h…m44m that's still what I consider modern! I've got the D750 myself, and only bought it a few years ago. It's so much better at high ISO than the D7000 and D70 I had before it.
Not made the jump to mirrorless yet.

@npub1a3h…m44m impressive lack of noise - I love how modern sensors can handle high ISO so well, and after stacking 30 you've got a great image.
Guess if you follow the rule of 600, you might need to drop the exposure time closer to 1s to avoid any trailing with that lens.

Were you using a tracking mount, or just multiple short exposures at high ISO stacked?

@npub1m26…2jhh I was lurking here hoping someone would have a great explanation of the differences between them, as I've been curious for a while too.
Currently use Vimium-FF (for many years, after Pentadactyl died) and don't have any problems with it, but I wouldn't say I'm a power user.
Keep seeing recommendations for the C version but I can never find any explanation of what it might do better, and never have the time or enthusiasm to test them all.

@npub1m26…2jhh thanks. I'll have a closer look at xbps. I may even have a play with :void: if I ever get the time, but I seem to be making little progress with my to do/try list recently.
In some ways it feels weird having stuck with the same distro for so many years, but currently I don't have any issues that would push me away from Arch. I'd like to try NixOS as well at some point. Maybe one day I'll just wake up and decide to change!

@npub1m26…2jhh been meaning to ask, what features of #VoidLinux make it different/better compared to Arch?
I had a brief look at their website, and their own description sounded very much like Arch with a different package manager. Admittedly I didn't have time to dig very deep through their documentation, but they didn't really seem to be promoting any particularly unique features. I'm sure I've missed something though.
