said this to someone on my discord on the topic of making open hardware products; felt relevant to share:
it's hard to do these things at all, it's excruciatingly hard to do them well, and it can be overwhelming, in every sense of the word, to do these things in the open. at teardown another maker told me that making open hardware is a lot like getting punched repeatedly in the face, so, yeah: i have mad respect for anyone who braves all that and gets an actual product over the finish line.

finally upgraded Manager, the accounting software I use, after ten months of coasting on an old version, and I could not be more thrilled with their tweaks to inventory management. If you're a small maker-oriented business, I recommend it highly: free as in beer, runs locally and offline on Windows/Mac/Linux, and it seems to be made by folks who just _really_ love accounting. https://www.manager.io/

Starting a new battery test with the Sensor Watch Lite hardware (since it didn’t, y’know, exist when I started the last test). When I opened up the test watch and extracted the old circuit board, I realized: I shouldn’t just throw this one back into the hopper. If I live to age 80, I’ll have worn this thing I made for 3 percent of my life. This one goes into a pink antistatic bag.
