i meant more like, for example, whatever follows the @ sign is entirely arbitrary in content and in mapping. i could "@npub19fw…jl4e" and it wouldn't be immediately clear what "@" means or what "evan" refers to. the same general function of a "mention" was denoted with a "+" on google+. there is also no clear standard on when to terminate such a "mention". can it include spaces or not? on twitter no, on google+ yes. and so on and so forth.

i don't think this entirely makes sense because the rules for parsing microsyntax are so highly variable and application-specific. so text/plain is the best you're going to get for this.

no, “streams” carry no additional semantic meaning. it’s just a grab-bag of collections related to the actor, for example, say i categorized my posts into “tech”, “personal”, etc etc, i could link each collection from the streams property.

not sure what the "streams" property has to do with this, it seems completely unrelated. but i have thought before that Group is not very useful as an actual group of people because there's no good way to figure out membership.
one way to address this would be to dual-type [Group, Collection]
another way would be to use vcard:hasMember
a third way would be to define an extension property/collection indicating "members" that you can Join/Leave or be Add/Remove to by mods.

i can see this being an issue particularly for mastodon participants who have to deal with 500-character limits :x
you might want to maybe consider a heuristic that allows or merges in self-replies within a certain time window into a single post? idk, just a thought

hmm, this is actually not equivalent, because there actually might be a context of Israeli nationalism or ethnonationalism. In stark contrast to ethnic cleansing and ethnonationalism of the Zionist project, the cause of Palestinian freedom is not founded on Arab/Muslim privilege. “Palestine” is a multicultural and multiethnic construct. You see this dichotomy in the “right of return” being extended selectively so as to exclude Palestinian refugees.
