I get that Mastodon (and the Fediverse) have issues, but I was not prepared for so many people complaining about it on Threads.
Mostly seems to be people who enjoy being spoonfed content via the algorithm and don't mind Billionaires controlling the platform.
Yeah, Mastodon (and the Fediverse) aren't perfect, but they get a lot of things right and I'll take it over the alternatives.

You can choose "I am reporting on behalf of someone else." but then cannot submit the form!
I could choose "I am reporting on behalf of my organization or client." and pretend you are my client...

Okay, try this...
Choose to report account, then choose “It’s posting content that shouldn’t be on Instagram” then choose “Scam or fraud”...
You can also choose “Intellectual properly violation" but it send you to the Help Center and I cannot find a way to further report it there...

Okay! You have to report it as "Scam or Fraud" You cannot tell them who it is impersonating unless the person is *on* Instagram.
I tried every way (like others in the thread) and the scam/fraud option was the only one I could actually submit.
(Maybe update your post to add that?)
