@npub1grx…uxfe I'm surprised by how many took up Bluesky given its network is considerably smaller than even Mastodon’s. My takeaway as that the journalist to journalist network is maybe more important than the journalist to consumer network?

@npub1grx…uxfe to me it feels like the same interaction patterns as Instagram - one way publishing with very little discussion back and forth. It’s performative, not conversational. Some folks may want that but it’s not for me.

Fully transitioned to #Obsidian sync rather than iCloud. Was a bit complicated because I had to move my preexisting vaults on desktop, iPad, and phone out of iCloud and set up local vaults on all three. I think everything is working now, and this feels much less janky than iCloud sync.

Those of us who are excited about this opportunity and plan to federate with Meta should also be using this as an opportunity to go on the “offense” by accelerating efforts to improve the UX.
My partner is a perfect example of a “normie” social media user. I’ll tell you what she wants out of a social network:
1) She wants a large social graph with a lot of people and topics to follow and lots of interesting content.

Going to tentatively wade into the #Meta debate here.
I see a lot of discussion around things like Fediblock, creating sanctuary servers, how to safeguard user data, etc. These are important discussions to have given Meta’s track record. However, tactically, these discussions are all “defensive”. We should also be thinking about how we’re going to go on the offensive.

Yes! I think being able to select your own algorithm from a menu of options is something that is compatible with Mastodon as a both a product and an ethos. I hope this becomes a reality.
