I've not been super active on Mastodon, and @npub16l9…rd0s is costing me too much ($100-200/mo) to operate. Donations are non-existent yet every month hundreds of people sign up.
I'm thinking of shutting it down – I've had no clear signals from users they'd be open to paid plans or requests for premium features.
This is a chance for the community and users to prove me wrong, otherwise I'll likely be shutting it down and maybe open sourcing the code.

#[0] I'm not saying it is, but it may explain why people see it as competition.
A simple consumer just wants an app that is easy to sign up for and get shitposts.
So far I see more reasons why Mastodon can't be it as for BlueSky it's more of a Schrödingers Platform.
