@nprofile…5f2h @nprofile…czj3 this is not a "smart" issue, it's entirely reproducible in strict mode. xdg-activation is used, in exactly the same way in both cases, but it triggers protection with an existing window as opposed to a new one.

@nprofile…ln70 yeah, i mean, in the context of mainstream social networks – it's the corpos that own them having the power to decide what gets promoted and what gets demoted and what gets moderated and which "community" or "expert" warnings get automatically inserted.
Sure is nice if they demote and debunk right-wing bullshit, but they would definitely do the same with e.g. pro-Palestine organizing
…but the worst part is they would very likely do the latter either way – now quietly while proclaiming free speech and no moderation and not being a ministry of truth at all, so yeah IMO might as well think of those now defunct efforts as a net good

also actually what does the "Decision Log" in about:support say? current firefox's only blocklist rule for "mesa non-amd/intel/nvidia" is that the mesa version should be at least 22.0.0

@npub13w6…479m hah – in the future composable world shouldn't be limited to one injected "app" directory, it totally makes sense to ask for a temp one specifically as well if you're fine with the user deciding whether it'd be persistent or not. or otherwise there should be an API for creating temporary directories in whatever anonymous place, controlled by the environment. there are lots of options in the design space :)
