Really think about what can be lost during times like this? Crazy to think about how a multi year famine and then plague could destroy whole families. Maybe one person out of a whole unit survives. Your only thought is of food and survival. What knowledge and stories were hurled aside in the scramble for survival?
I’ve often thought it would make a cool sci-fi movie to do something like discovering that the ancient world was actually extremely complex and advanced. But that the knowledge, tech, and proof was lost in the mad grab for base survival during epic disaster. And also, if it’s just file storage and not bitcoin, you can use a raspberry pi setup. @npub1agh…mhct runs well and does file storage. Cost os about 200$ for all the parts I believe. But the set up is still gonna be work so maybe still not helpful.

Once you get a node going you can ‘forget it’ a little bit. But that’s the trade off for self sovereignty: there is work involved. Are you computer savvy? You can build your own Start9 with old computer parts. I have a very old server hardware running Start9 until I save up for a newer machine.
I’m unfamiliar with online solutions. $100/year, sure if that works. But remember it’s still someone else’s computer. But really there is no right or wrong in my opinion. Just risk/work/time trade offs. Have fun, good luck and happy computing.

A theme that continues to develop is how dangerous the idea of peace seemed to be during the JFK years. I have been pondering this. WHY WAS JFK’s TURN TOWARDS PEACE SO DANGEROUS?
My own reflections have led me to the (obvious?) understanding that PEACE IS NOT PROFITABLE. At least if your industry is war. But also as we have seen time and time again, war opens many doors that lead to the consolidation of power. ‘Regular’ people simply want to live their lives. They are WILLING to work, to add value to the world. A value that respects others and does not require the enslavement of your fellow humans.
It is interesting to me how much the people, the citizens wanted peace. Akin to today, what we all want, and what the media and those in power say we want feels so disconnected. It’s strange. First of all, yes, I use Phoenix (at the moment) and it opens when I send a zap on someone’s profile.
I have tried the long hold on the ⚡️ button. Didn’t work.
But what’s strange is that, sometimes the zap buttons are there, but then when I toggle the zap.army they don’t show up. Is there a step I’m missing?
I’ve tried starting with Damus open and closed. I toggle the switch on. Then I close Damus (as instructed) and reopen it.

Ok update: so I see the zap button (it must have been that coincidentally the test note didn’t have zaps enabled). But clicking on it does nothing. So zap.army doesn’t seem to be working for me for some reason?

I’m trying to get the Damus hack ‘zap.army’ to work. I’m not a programmer. I toggle it on, restart the Damus app as instructed, but the zap buttons in notes ain’t showin up.
I MUST have note zaps! Any thoughts? Not sure what’s going wrong.

Great zapping is my primary focus at the moment. Next I’ll tackle my own receiving. I’ll play around with the link again but the zap buttons don’t show up when I toggle it on. Any thoughts?
