If you've edited #OpenStreetMap for 42+ days in the last year, you can get free membership in the OSM Foundation (otherwise, you have to pay £15).
A question for the data analysis nerds: How many OSMers are entitled to that? 🤔 🤔 🤔

Ouch. A large OpenStreetMap group has been using a proprietary chat platform as a community space for ~10 yrs. Now they gotta pay a $80k/yr (or $10k??) for usage. 🤯😱😢
Slack (now Salesforce) now wants to charge @npub129d…9wll for all ~6k users on their server. 😢😢 Ouch.
This sort of bait & switch is why open, community owned platforms (like this!) are vital!

@npub129g…4kwg yeah I know about pre-resevering memory like that. I'm not able to use it as much here. My code is currently trying to use *a lot* of memory, so it's understandable why it can't work.

I am trying to store loads of OpenStreetMap node locations in memory. A simple `HashMap<i64, (f64, f64)>` works for small datasets, but fails for bigger files.
This is why I learned #Rust!

Looks like the global conference of the #OpenStreetMap community, State of the Map (SotM), will be held in a place where it's illegal to be gay & trans.
