I sometimes use horse and cow poo too. They roam freely behind our house. I don’t use farmyard manure as cattle are routinely (and mostly illegally) fed antibiotics “to give them a boost” (in the words of a farmer I know). Just as the antibiotics kill bacteria in the animals, it kills the good bacteria in the compost.

Don’t forget that human urine usually contains the “pass through” remains of medication. Fine if you want to treat your compost heap for high blood pressure. :blobamused:

Our favourite tomato sandwich - so simple but spectacular- crush a garlic clove into butter, thenspread on bread with sliced very ripe tomato on top. Add some ground sea salt.

Like most folk, a lot of things delivered to me are in cardboard. Instead of just adding the cardboard to my compost pile, we’ve started to use the cardboard boxes to collect our veg peelings etc, instead of the previous re-usable plastic tub. When full, I water the cardboard box with a watering can and add the whole thing to the compost. Let’s see how that goes…..
