They overlap, but the terms are not synonym.
For example.
Liking a post in Mastodon in Ivory for iOS is straight forward. Tap the star icon. That's usability.
The subtle haptic feedback and animation that confirm this action are user experience. Especially the haptic feedback as it only happens when the server replied successfully.
Both has nothing to do with usability or UI, but are pure UX. But positioning the icon clearly is Usability, UI and also UX.

I can't access this post anymore too without creating an account. Maybe A/B-Tests to see what works for them?
It's pretty sad. Many people publish on Medium and I'm rarely able to read the posts.

A six year old girl on the playground said my nails are pretty. 🥰 (I painted them black yesterday)

First she was confused why a man has painted nails. I just said "I like it better" and she replied with "Oh, that makes sense. Me too!".

It would be definitely better for your users. And the content would be actually yours.
I guess the clock is ticking for Medium to sell all posts they have to OpenAI. As every service seems to do these days.
