The Post Office Horizon scandal resulted in the deaths by suicide of four adults. It is rightly seen as a national disgrace.
We now have credible evidence that, since Dec. 2020, 16 trans children have died by suicide while under NHS care. That’s compared to 1 in the 7 years previous. Government policies on trans healthcare are having a real and tragic effect. Labour has promised, if elected, to continue those policies.

@npub1ept…jcl3 I can’t see any Worldcon agreeing to such a contract. Too much legal risk. They’d insist that the Hugos were run by WSFS. Which is kind of what we want. Except that if WSFS becomes a proper organisation, they’ll get legal advice, and the lawyers will tell them never to publish nomination data again, and to make everyone involved in Hugo Admin sign NDAs.

How Did We Get Here?
One of the more common questions I'm getting asked on social media is why WSFS is not incorporated, and why is there so much resistance to it being so. I'm not really the right person to answer that, because I only started going to Worldcons in 1995. The fannish war over incorporartion had been going on for some time by then and was deemed mostly settled against the idea, but I will give it a go.

I’ve been seeing a bit of confusion today, so a reminder.
1. If you voted in Worldcon site selection then you are automatically a supporting member of whichever convention wins, regardless of who you voted for.
2. Chengdu set their price to convert to attending membership at $0 to keep prices down for local fans, so if you voted in site selection you are automatically an attending member (whether you choose to go in person or not).

Lesbians in Spaaaaace!
Exciting news from Wizard's Tower today. We will be publishing a lesbian space opera trilogy from the very wonderful Lyda Morehouse. Long-time readers will remember that Lyda's cyberpunk series, AngeLINK, was groundbreaking in featuring a transgender Archangel 20 years ago. Nowadays we can be much more upfront about queer content, and I am very much looking forward to seeing what Lyda does.
