I am fully with you on the subscription aversion. That said, mainline browsers don’t version like that any more, and I doubt would change the flow. So maybe $99 every year, but you have to affirmatively make the purchase each year rather than it being a recurring subscription?

I’m going to jump in here to ask what you mean by a major version. Browsers these days release a new integer-increment milestone (e.g., going from 126.0 to 127.0) every ~6 weeks. Did you mean that, or some other threshold?
