They say you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have and so today im dressed like a delivery driver for a small chain of convenience stores in central Japan puttering about in my little van delivering Egg Mayo sandwiches and Yakult.

I know it’s not cool to be sincere about politics or the Labour Party, but as a kid who grew up on shitty council estates, attended state schools and got a leg up from *nobody*, seeing people who had starts in life like mine sitting at the cabinet table feels like a world away from last week.
And yes, we’ll all judge them on their record in 5 years time, of course, but the very idea that the people running the country now know what it’s like to actually live in it is fantastic.

I turned 39 today. *39*. I remember thinking my relatives in their 40s were basically just waiting for the end so I guess I’d better make the most of the last year of my thirties.
