The Aurora Borealis from South West Scotland last night, wonderfully visible to the naked eye, with brief busy spells of dancing pillars. Adjusted to be more akin to what we actually see, this is a 1 second exposure, giving much more detail to these ephemeral structures.

It feels like summer at last here in South West Scotland, and an overdue explosion of insects has happened. This is Uroceras gigas, the giant woodwasp, a monster compared to other indigenous wasps, but thankfully, completely harmless.
